Hello, my name is Joy Haythorne, and I am standing to be your Conservative Candidate for Botley. I am a wife, a mother and a grandmother and I have lived in Botley for over 40 years. My well-tended allotment is at the back of the Fire Station and after digging I visit one of my locals, the Brewery Bar, Bugle or the Dolphin.
I am incredibly passionate about our village and I enjoy actually talking to the people of Botley so that they can have a greater say over what happens in their community. People I speak to in Botley feel that they are not always included in local plans, especially with crucial projects such as the Botley by-pass. I want to change that. Here are my priorities for the village:
l Better parking facilities so more people can come and enjoy Botley and help our local traders grow their businesses.
l Safer school crossing – keeping our children safe going to and from school with a 20mph zone through Botley.
l Funding to bring a preschool back to the village hall so mothers have somewhere in their local community to send
their children to preschool rather than having to leave Botley.
l Involve local people in the planning process – the local council has for too long kept the people of Botley in the dark regarding the bypass and planning in general
